The Google Blog of a Google Consultant

Following on from my posts of July 13 and August 13 below, we are having some early success getting the rapidly expanding pages of my Near.co.uk client into the Google index. Given that there are many rumours about Google sandboxing new sites, and in particular, big ones, we have been naturally anxious not to do anything that may trigger it. Our careful approach seems to have been vindicated and within six weeks of the new site going live we have 8400 entries live in the Google index.

To say things have been quiet on the news front recently would do understatements a disservice. So whilst I root around for something interesting to tell you, how about playing with Google Talk for a bit. According to Douwe Osinga, it's creator, it works like this: "Use Google talk by entering three or four words below. The system will search for this sentence at Google, find the next word and print that. Than it will remove the first word of the search string, add the found word and repeat."

It seems to work rather well if you introduce someone famous to it, try 'George Bush is'
