The Google Blog of a Google Consultant

Just a quick post to thank Dan Winchester for the loan of his HTTP Header Checker code. I have been using Dan's code on his site, at www.dan.co.uk, for some time, to investigate redirects and other anomolies in server responses and resource locations. Dan has kindly consented to me hosting a copy of the code on my site. So I have created a Tools section, in which his HTTP Header Viewer is located. Enjoy.

Slightly off topic: BlogCode launches. Some of you may be familiar with my involvement in StoryCode, the book recommendation service that works on the collaborative coding of stories by readers to provide a smart and structured comparison engine. Well, the concept has been rolled out into blogs, with the beta launch of BlogCode.

BlogCode asks 27 questions about the blogs you read inviting you to rate each question on a scale. The resulting profile is then used to compare blogs with each other - an 80% match is very strong. The site is launching today with a limited set of blogs entered by the team, so head on over there and code your own blog first, then code some of the others you enjoy.

There is also the option of adding a comparison feed onto your blog home page, for your blog, naturally, as I have done in the top right corner of my blog template. Let me know how you get on with it.
